Meet Magda Herrera

Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, AMFT #126742

Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. I’m passionate about helping guide you to a place of self-awareness, understanding and empowerment. My goal is for you to feel better prepared to navigate emotional experiences and dismantle internal barriers that have been holding you back from living the life you truly want. I approach my work with warmth and collaboration to allow for an environment that feels safe and comfortable. In this space, we will have opportunities to engage emotionally and tap into areas that help you process the past and explore possibilities for the future. I will gently challenge you to observe and make meaningful changes in the present day. Connecting with your true self means coming home – to a place of knowing, serenity and inner peace.

I use a generalized approach to treating my clients, depending on each client’s needs. I approach my work primarily from a psychodynamic perspective which explores your underlying history to understand how it may have shaped the ways you presently think and behave. I also incorporate elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy by actively working on day-to-day thoughts and behaviors, goals and problem solving. I also work to help you understand the power of self-talk and creating more useful stories about yourself to see beyond what you thought possible through the Narrative Therapy lens. I currently work with individual adults, adolescents and couples.
Starting therapy or deciding that you could use support can feel intimidating. I look forward to taking the first step of this journey with you. Please feel free to reach out to schedule a complementary phone consultation to establish fit and address any questions or concerns you may have about starting therapy. *Hablo Español.
