Experience the Transformative Power of Therapy Intensives with Marilyn!
Does it feel like despite making progress in your weekly therapy sessions, it still isn’t quite enough to help you live the life you want? Or perhaps you’re the type of person who likes more dedicated, high-touch time together: learning, watching, and then practicing together!
You may have intended to start weekly therapy for some time, but your busy and demanding schedule has made it feel more overwhelming and burdensome than supportive and desirable. Additionally, the prospect of being placed on a waiting list for weeks or even months for weekly therapy adds to the hesitation.
You might have sensed a profound need for change, yet you’re uncertain why, despite the time invested in therapy, you haven’t reached that point. While you’ve gained new cognitive insights, your mind and body remain in confusion. As a result, you’re intrigued by how a more intensive, somatic therapy approach could provide the clarity and progress you seek.
Perhaps you’re in need of more, higher level assistance right now, and the thought of spending months or even years in traditional weekly therapy doesn’t align with your urgency to feel better.
Alternatively, you might be a new therapy client who simply prefers to engage in more intensive sessions.
Weekly therapy is embracing a shift towards more personalized approaches to support your growth.
Experience a shift from the weekly therapy model to an extended, dedicated, high-touch experience to really dig in, explore, learn and grow!
What is a Therapy Intensive?
Therapy Intensives are condensed sessions that offer you the opportunity to dive deep into your healing journey over a shorter period of time. Unlike traditional weekly therapy sessions, which are spread out over months or years, Therapy Intensives allow for concentrated exploration and growth from issues in a more accelerated time frame. Intensive Therapy is a powerful way to accelerate the healing that you would experience in typical weekly somatic sessions.
Instead of the standard weekly or bi-weekly meetings lasting less than an hour, we would instead arrange sessions spanning several hours over 1-3 days. It is a concentrated, embodied and intentional therapeutic path, without having time in between sessions. It helps people journey deeper and feel better faster.
Opting for an intensive format may reduce overall treatment duration by eliminating time spent on session beginnings and recalling previous discussions between sessions. This approach allows for deeper exploration of issues, facilitating more immediate progress.
Ultimately, you’ll achieve greater progress in less time.
Benefits of Therapy Intensives
- Rapid Progress
In a Therapy Intensive, you can make significant strides in a shorter amount of time. By immersing yourself fully in the therapeutic process, you can uncover insights, address challenges, and implement coping strategies more efficiently.
- Focused Attention
During a Therapy Intensive, you have my undivided attention. This focused support creates a safe space for you to delve into sensitive topics, explore emotions, and work through obstacles without distractions.
- Tailored Approach
- Breakthrough Moments
- Convenience and Flexibility
For those with busy schedules or pressing concerns, Therapy Intensives offer a convenient alternative to traditional weekly therapy. Instead of committing to long-term appointments, you can choose a timeframe that fits your schedule and prioritize your mental health without sacrificing other commitments.
Why Choose a Therapy Intensive?
Choosing a Therapy Intensive over traditional weekly therapy can be beneficial for various reasons:
Immediate Support
If you’re facing a crisis or experiencing acute distress, a Therapy Intensive provides immediate support and intervention to help you navigate challenging circumstances.
Time Constraints
Whether you’re preparing for a major life transition or have limited availability for ongoing therapy, a Therapy Intensive offers a time-efficient solution to address your needs effectively. Maybe you have some time off of work or school and want to prioritize and fast track your healing.
Intensive Focus
Maybe you’re already in or have done weekly therapy and found it helpful, and you crave more. Some individuals prefer the intensive focus of Therapy Intensives, where they can fully immerse themselves in the therapeutic process and make substantial progress in a condensed time frame.
Accelerated Healing
For those eager to accelerate their healing journey or break through long standing barriers, Therapy Intensives offer an intensive and proactive approach to promote growth, resilience, and emotional well-being.
Understanding Therapy Intensives
How do Therapy Intensives work?
Before engaging in the Intensive (where you’ll participate in holistic and somatic therapy), we’ll arrange a Pre-Intensive Interview to identify the objectives for our time together. We’ll examine your current life circumstances (including stressors, support networks, and coping strategies for managing intense emotions and physical sensations), as well as areas where you seek relief, growth, or significant progress.
During the Intensive, our focus will be on understanding yourself, reducing distress while simultaneously enhancing your ability to connect with more positive emotions, thoughts, and memories. This involves gentle, nourishing, body-based work, designed for you through holistic and somatic therapy techniques, alongside identifying personalized coping strategies and adapted tools that resonate with you.
Tailored to your unique needs and objectives, the Intensive may involve processing past or present relationships and events, or addressing concerns about the future. This process is highly personalized and tailored specifically to you.
Following the holistic and somatic therapy Intensive, we’ll meet again for a Post-Intensive Interview to review the insights and learnings you’ve gained, discuss their significance to you, and explore how you can integrate these newfound insights and shifts into various aspects of your life moving forward.
What types of issues can Therapy Intensives address?
Therapy Intensives are suitable for a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and personal growth goals.
How long does a Therapy Intensive typically last?
The duration of a Therapy Intensive can vary depending on your goals, availability, and the intensity of support needed. Sessions can range from 3 hours up to a half-day, over several potentially consecutive days.
Is a Therapy Intensive suitable for everyone?
While Therapy Intensives can be highly effective for many individuals, they may not be suitable for everyone. It’s essential to consider your readiness for intensive therapy, your ability to dedicate uninterrupted time to the process, and any potential logistical constraints.
How does scheduling work for Therapy Intensives?
Scheduling for Therapy Intensives needs to be arranged ahead of time, due to the duration of our time spent together.
How does billing work for Therapy Intensives?
Because Therapy Intensives require a significant time commitment from my schedule, they are billed differently than weekly sessions.
A 50% deposit is charged at time of booking and is non-refundable.
The remaining balance is due on Day 1 of the Intensive.
By booking the Intensive, you have reserved and purchased this time block for YOU. It is yours, unless you cancel at least 2 weeks prior to Day 1. If you cancel the Therapy Intensive within 2 weeks of Day 1, you will be charged the total amount of the Intensive Package, so it is very important that we find the best time for you when scheduling this. If you cancel before th 2 weeks, the deposit will be held and applied to your reschedule.
Will I have ongoing support after completing a Therapy Intensive?
Yes, I’m committed to your well-being beyond the Therapy Intensive itself. I provide recommendations for continued support, whether through follow-up sessions, referrals to other resources or professionals, or strategies for maintaining progress independently.
How do I get started with online therapy?
Getting started with online therapy is easy. Simply reach out, schedule an initial consultation or intake appointment, and follow their instructions for accessing the virtual therapy platform. From there, you can begin your journey towards healing and personal growth from the comfort of your own space.
What makes intensive therapy a more cost-effective and time-efficient option compared to weekly therapy?
- 10-15 minutes for reviewing the previous session
- 20-30 minutes allocated for holistic somatic processing
- 10-15 minutes for wrapping up the session
For instance, if you spend a month addressing a particular stressor, the cost for the four weekly therapy sessions would be approximately $1,200.
However, in reality, issues often arise between sessions, and there may be times when you’re not ready to delve into processing during the next session. Moreover, the focus of each session may significantly shift from week to week.
As a result, you might find yourself in weekly therapy for several months, multiplying the cost ($1,200 x # of months), without experiencing complete resolution of the current stressor.
- 10-15 minutes for initial check-in and setting session focus
- 160-210 minutes of holistic somatic processing
- 10-15 minutes for closing the session
With this approach, you may find deeper understanding and create immediate, adapted tools for one or multiple stressors within half a day, at a cost of around $2,000. The effectiveness of 2-3 hours of holistic somatic processing exceeds that of twice the amount of traditional talk therapy sessions. This means you’re accomplishing more work in less time, requiring less therapy overall.
As a result, you experience improvement sooner. Additionally, you’ll likely spend less on symptom-managing medications that may not have been effective anyway.

Yes, many insurance companies, typically PPOs, reimburse a portion of the cost of psychotherapy. This includes understanding the benefits available for out-of-network providers and whether your insurance covers several hours of therapy in one day or one week.

Please note that the insurance company requires a diagnosis code for treatment justification.
